SNEAKY SOUND SYSTEM '2' REVIEW

August 18th 2008 07:07
Sneaky Sound System 2
Sneaky Sound System 2

Aussie 'Super Group' Sneaky Sound System released their new album on Saturday and i was there to grab my copy...... The new album is titled '2', it feature 10 new tracks and Stays true to Sneaky style. After my first quick listen i was a little bit worried that the album didn't live up to the last, with the overall sound of the album not as up-beat. Still this album is above average and has some true gems like 'I Want Everything', this track was written for Kylie Minogue's Last Album but was not chosen by the record exec. Which is great because it suits Sneaky great, it is a killer dance/pop track and i think it will be really popular. The album also features the hit single 'Kansas City' and future Hit's 'When We Were Young' and 'I Just Don't Want To Be Loved'.

Now residing in London, Ladyhawke are releasing their first EP which features the new single Paris Is Burning. I don't mind this track it's growing on me. Lisa Mitchell
Lisa Mitchell

I have always thought that the ‘Idol’ television series has been a bore, more importantly as we all know the music that the contestants produce is always crap. I think the reason that the music is always bad is the record company pushing the winner into a box that they probably don’t fit into. Now 7 seasons on I think I have been proved wrong. Lisa Mitchell is a 17 year-old singer songwriter from country New South Wales who was apart of the show 2 or 3 seasons ago. She has defied the trend and had has made the music that she enjoys and it shows. Lisa has released two EP’s now the latest of which features one of my new favourite tracks called Neopolitan Dreams. The track has caught the alternative market that she was looking for and I would be surprised if her album she is currently working on finds its niche and does well. Have a look at a live version done by Lisa of Neopolitan Dreams below and let us know what you think. Fan of Mystromusic.com? AC/DC

AC/DC have been in a studio in Vancouver recording a brand new album. It's been eight years since their last album.... And thirty three years since they put out their debut, High Voltage. Rumours say the album may be titled Black Ice or Runaway Train but nothing's been confirmed. It has been confirmed that the band has an exclusive deal with Wal-Mart in the US so the album will only be sold there when it's released later this year. There are also rumours that AC/DC the musical is in the pipeline! Sounds interesting doesn’t it! As soon as we have new music we will show you so stay tuned and check out a classic below. Kings Of Leon have a new album due in September. Frontman Caleb Followill told NME that they had no plans for a new release this year. After months of intense touring they were hoping to have some time off. But then they got a call offering them a headline spot at Glastonbury - and thought they owed it to their fans to have some new songs. Titled Only By The Night, the new album will be the fourth from the band. No official single have been released yet but some rumoured tracks include Manhattan and Crawl. Check out Manhattan below as well as their massive track On Call from last year and let us know what you think of it. Fan of Mystromusic.com? Ben & Jerry’s, the company that brought you John Lennon’s `Imagine` ice-cream is back with a new Elton John flavour. The Elton John ice cream is called `Goodbye Yellow Brickle Road'. For those of you who don’t know how Elton tastes, be prepared for the chilling taste of Elton`s peanut butter cookie dough flavour on your tongue, and those crunchy bits in case you are wondering are white chocolate chunks. That sounds WRONG! ‘Goodbye Yellow Brickle Road’ is at a Ben & Jerry’s near you. Check out Elton’s, Goodbye Yellow Brick road below and do a bit of reminiscing. Fan of Mystromusic.com? The Datsuns
The Datsuns

New Zealand rockers The Datsuns are in the final stages of making their 4th studio album. For those who don’t know, they have established themselves a following in the alternative scene around the world over the past 8 years. Cooking Vinyl will release the yet to be titled new album in Europe in September. About the new album, guitarist Christian Livingstone says, “We recorded an album in Sweden - we went there because the people are very good-looking over there. That’s very important when you’re recording an album - you must surround yourself with good-looking people. We wrote it in Germany and went to Sweden and recorded it. It’s got a whole heap of different stuff. It’s not a record where every song sounds the same. There’s a psychedelic track, something quite epic, a punk song and a couple of pop songs - so it all comes under the umbrella of rock ’n’ roll. We’ve got short attention spans so we like to try different things.” I like his thinking, we are looking forward to hearing it. Have a look at their track, Harmonic Generator from 2002 below and stay tuned we will have some new tracks from them soon. Fan of Mystromusic.com? Cover Of The Week
Cover Of The Week

Its Cover of the Week time and this week I have found a brilliant cover of Rihanna’s SOS. The Cover was done for the Live Lounge in the UK and is very intricate and interesting. The cover is by British indie rock band, The Last Shadow Puppets, we haven’t done a story on these guys yet so to fill you in on who they are here is a short bio. The Last Shadow Puppets is a side project of Alex Turner from Sheffield band Arctic Monkeys and Miles Kane of Liverpool band The Rascals. Their first album, The Age of the Understatement was released in April in the UK, it went straight to No.1and while promoting the album they did this cover. Check it out this cool cover below and tell us what you think of it. Fan of Mystromusic.com? Then Subscribe to the blog or visit our myspace page www.myspace.com/mystro_music

ITS BRITNEY IN AN ELEVATOR, BITCH

July 14th 2008 07:02
Britney Spears
Britney Spears

Britney Spears has filmed her bit for Madonna’s upcoming ‘Sticky and Sweet’ tour this week in LA. In the video, Britney will be stuck in an elevator, look into the camera and says “its Britney bitch”. The scene is a send-up of their duet of some years back. While Britney is stuck in the elevator, the elevator music is that old Madonna song ‘Human Nature’. It was her 1994 hit, not the Michael Jackson song and not a medley of the Aussie boy band (thank God). The Britney piece will be one of those audience distraction pieces while Madonna goes off and does one of many costume changes during the show. Check out a cool track from Madonna new album called She’s Not Me wait till the end of the song because its the best bit. Fan of Mystromusic.com? The hand-painted bass drum was among a collection of 60s memorabilia, which in total fetched over £1 million at auction yesterday. The percussion instrument sold for £541,250, four times its original estimate. Other items under the hammer at London’s Christie’s auction house included John Lennon’s hand-written lyrics for his song 'Give Peace a Chance’, which sold for £421,250. A pair of Jimi Hendrix’s flares fetched £20,000 and one of his Marshall amps dating back to 1966 fetched £25,000. Have a look at some classic Beatles below to take you back to the ‘good old days’. The Verve’s first single in ten years is finally available for all to view. The song is promising and should keep old fans of the band happy. Singer Richard Ashcroft’s voice is as strong as ever. And just to win over a few nerds, the video even features a Reubens’ Tube. The song comes from their forthcoming album 'Fourth’, which will be released on August 19 via their own label 'On Your Own’.
