Brown Eyed Girls
Brown Eyed Girls

With one of the biggest hits of this years summer, Brown Eyed Girls captivated the K-Pop world with their hypnotic hip swaying. These four women are back with a repackaged album and a new hit single. The track is called SIGN and has a pretty heavy music video to go with it. SIGN doesn't reach the heights of Abracadabra but is certainly very catchy. Check out SIGN below.

Mini Viva

I get so excited when I get new pop music and it doesn’t suck. One of my favorite pop tracks of this year was Mini Viva's Left My Heart In Tokyo, and now the girls are back with their second single from their upcoming album. Basically this British duo is reinventing the 90's pop sound, puting their spin on it and so you are left with above average pop. The new single is called I Wish, with a funky music video this is sure to be another top 10 hit. Ch-Ch-Check it out below.

Shakira

Shakira Did It Again! For her second single from her new album, the Colombian goddess has got the internets talking with her sexy new clip. Did It Again is written, produced by Pharell Williams and takes a more familiar Shakira sound than the previous single She Wolf. The music video for this track is fantastic, a complex chorography scene with a bed the highlight. Make sure you don't look away at 2:29 , because it's really cool.

Ivy

Ivy is the stage name for K-Pop diva, Park Eunhye. After a long hiatus from the music industry because of a sex scandal, which the media fabricated, Ivy is back. Her first single of her new album is a big sounding dance track called Touch Me. This very nineties sounding song, reminds me of something I have heard before, but I don't care because I really like this track. There is no hidding that Ivy and this song is all about selling sex, with a good portion of the 3:20min video being crutch shots, very Madonna esque. This is a very new track so expect it to be hitting the top of the charts in the coming weeks. Check out Touch Me below.

Flight of the Conchords

Flight of the Conchords is a New Zealand comedy duo composed of Bret McKenzie and Jemaine Clement. Billing themselves as "Formerly New Zealand's fourth most popular guitar-based digi-bongo acapella-rap-funk-comedy folk duo", the group uses a combination of witty observation, characterisation and acoustic guitar music. Simply they are fricken hilarious. The boys are back with their second studio album, which basically comprises of songs from their TV show reworked. The first single, Hurt Feelings, of the new album, I Told You I Was Freaky, is another masterpiece. Check out Hurt Feelings(TV version) and my favorite track from their first album below.

The extremely talented and beautiful Clare Bowditch is back with new music! The Aria award winning Australian sing/songwriter has spent the last year in Germany, writing and recording material for her new album which is due out early in 2010. I am a big fan of Clare's work, she takes her music to a new place with every album and keeps you guessing. The first single from her new album is called Start Of War, the music video was shot in Berlin whilst Clare was recording. Check it out below!

Dance super producer Calvin Harris, is riding a wave of success at the moment with 2 top 5 UK singles and a No.1 album. In his spare time away from touring and producing Kylie Minogue's new album, Calvin has shot the video for his third worldwide single, Flashback. Most likely another hit, Flashback is a big sounding dance track with a very nineties edge. Not Calvin's best work, not his worst. Check out Flashback below.

SHInee

Back into the world of K-Pop today. SHInee is a five-member boy band who debuted to massive sucsess last year capturing the hearts of most Korean female teenagers. Well the boys are back with their 4th realese since their debut, titled, 2009 Year of Us. The lead single from the album is called Ring Ding Dong and no, the song doesn't have anything to do with Christmas or The Crazy Frog. While these guys might look like any other boy band, with the bad hair cuts and stupid pose's, they actually have talent and they are the only boy band I 'Sort Of Like'. Check out Ring Ding Dong below.

Har Mar Superstar

Sean Matthew Tillmann, better known by his stage names of Har Mar Superstar and Sean Na Na, is an American singer with a bit of an edge. Releasing his first record in 2000 Har Mar has continued to keep his unique style while enjoying limited success in the alternative side of the music industry. Dark Touches is the latest studio album from Har Mar, which features his first single from the album, Tall Boy. Tall Boy feels like something we've seen and heard before, but just because it's not very original doesn't mean it's not good. It's damn good! Check it out below.

Meghan Tonjes

The very talented and beautiful Meghan Tonjes is one of our favorite American singer-songwriters. Meghan has been releasing her music independently for a while now, but with the high quality music she is producing at the moment, I doubt it will be very long before a record company snaps her up. Her latest masterpiece, Just Fine, is simply that, a masterpiece. A very simple track, lyrically driven, that sounds like a monster ballad you might hear Beyonce or Leona Lewis singing. Check out Just Fine below.

Black Eyed Peas

I use to be a massive Black Eyed Peas fan back in the late 90's and even though my enjoyment in their music has wained over the years, It's hard not to call these guys trendsetters. The first singles of their latest album The E.N.D., Boom Boom Pow and I've Gotta Feeling, have spent so many weeks at No.1 this year that it is ridiculous. The wave of success look set to continue with the third single of the album, Meet Me Halfway already Top 10 in most countries around the world. This is one of the better tracks of their new album along with the infectious Imma Be. The Pea's have also made a interesting clip to go with their new single, Check it out below.

The Next Pop Phenomenon?

October 15th 2009 13:17
Alexandra Burke
Alexandra Burke

Maybe. I have been debating with myself over the last couple of weeks whether this song was worthy of a post, encase you left your brain behind, I went with Yes. The justification I gave myself was the question of whether Alexandra Burke has the making of the next pop Phenomenon. The reason I had to justify is that this song is even a little bit to mainstream for me. Alexandra was the winner of the UK TV show The X Factor last year, with her first single, a ballad, she broke pretty much every record their was to break(Chart Wise). I imagined with her first album that she would head down that same 'musical path', but it would seem she has gone for a more up-tempo pop track. The song is called Bad Boys and it looks like it will debut at No.1 this weekend in the UK. The track is also getting a worldwide release including the US, so is Alexandra Burke heading for stardom? Check out the video below and let tell us what you think.

Meghan Tonjes is her name and covers is her style. We have been following Meghan for a while now on her youtube channel, where she performs a range of her own material as well as some great covers. With just her guitar, her beautiful voice and some good recording skills, Meghan shows the world that independent artist's have a place in the mixed up world of the music industry. The latest cover from Meghan is of American Pop/R&B artist Ciara and her most recent hit Love Sex And Magic. Check out the cover bellow as well as the original and another favourite of ours where Meghan takes on Lily Allen.
