The crossover between singers and actors has always been a very tarred line in the entertainment biz. Most actors who try to crossover into singing are laughed at by the music industry and very few singers who go into acting are able to keep both professions going at the same time, especially in pop music. Leighton Meester is the star of the US TV series Gossip Girl and is also the latest star to try to have both at once. The one thing going for her is that she started making music years ago and has always wanted to be a singer before acting, so basically she is serious about having a career. Leighton is also trying to bring the euro pop sound to the US, which is commendable, but unlikely to succeed. Her first single is called Somebody To Love and features US heartthrob Robin Thicke. Her album is due out early next year, but for now check out the just released video for Somebody To Love.
Okay, if this is the most confusing artist name we've seen all year, but we'll try and simplify things for you. US DJ Armand Van Helden is one of the most successful DJs on the planet. Canadian DJ A-Trak has just visited Aussie shores where he played at Parklife. Together, the boys have come together to form a duo called Duck Sauce. What's Duck Sauce all about? According to the OFFICIAL MYSPACE, "Duck Sauce is Armand Van Helden and A-Trak making house music and eating Chinese food. Who's hungry? Quack quack." aNYway is the lead single from these guys and the video is retro personified - groovy threads, jivin' dance moves and plenty of funk. Check it out below!
'The Ga' is back bigger and better than ever. For the re-release of Lady Gaga's debut album The Fame, she has basically created a whole new record. Eight new tracks including the new single Bad Romance, Gaga is certainly defying the rules of the music industry with her new approach to releasing music. The Fame Monster is the title of the new album and it is scheduled to hit stores on the 23rd of November. The Video for Bad Romance has been released overnight and if you are a fan of The Ga, you will love this video. I don't think it is worth trying to describe it, it's just nuts and i love it. Her best video yet, check it out below as well as some awesome screen shots from the video.
A Boy, is the fourth and final single from G-Dragon's first studio album Heartbreaker. The music video for the track was released yesterday, it took three months to make, transforming G-Dragon into 2D form.
This song is my favoutie track of the album so it's cool that's it finally getting a release. Check it out below.
With one of the biggest hits of this years summer, Brown Eyed Girls captivated the K-Pop world with their hypnotic hip swaying. These four women are back with a repackaged album and a new hit single. The track is called SIGN and has a pretty heavy music video to go with it. SIGN doesn't reach the heights of Abracadabra but is certainly very catchy. Check out SIGN below.
I get so excited when I get new pop music and it doesn’t suck. One of my favorite pop tracks of this year was Mini Viva's Left My Heart In Tokyo, and now the girls are back with their second single from their upcoming album. Basically this British duo is reinventing the 90's pop sound, puting their spin on it and so you are left with above average pop. The new single is called I Wish, with a funky music video this is sure to be another top 10 hit. Ch-Ch-Check it out below.
ShakiraDid It Again! For her second single from her new album, the Colombian goddess has got the internets talking with her sexy new clip. Did It Again is written, produced by Pharell Williams and takes a more familiar Shakira sound than the previous single She Wolf. The music video for this track is fantastic, a complex chorography scene with a bed the highlight. Make sure you don't look away at 2:29 , because it's really cool.
