Duck Sauce
Duck Sauce

Okay, if this is the most confusing artist name we've seen all year, but we'll try and simplify things for you. US DJ Armand Van Helden is one of the most successful DJs on the planet. Canadian DJ A-Trak has just visited Aussie shores where he played at Parklife. Together, the boys have come together to form a duo called Duck Sauce. What's Duck Sauce all about? According to the OFFICIAL MYSPACE, "Duck Sauce is Armand Van Helden and A-Trak making house music and eating Chinese food. Who's hungry? Quack quack." aNYway is the lead single from these guys and the video is retro personified - groovy threads, jivin' dance moves and plenty of funk. Check it out below!

Superb!

Meghan Tonjes
Meghan Tonjes

The very talented and beautiful Meghan Tonjes is one of our favorite American singer-songwriters. Meghan has been releasing her music independently for a while now, but with the high quality music she is producing at the moment, I doubt it will be very long before a record company snaps her up. Her latest masterpiece, Just Fine, is simply that, a masterpiece. A very simple track, lyrically driven, that sounds like a monster ballad you might hear Beyonce or Leona Lewis singing. Check out Just Fine below.

MM Rating: Song: 4/5

The World of 'Western'(American, European and Australian) music has been somewhat been passing me by of late, because I have been immersed in to Korean music scene. For the very few of you who read andwho like K-pop below are three new-ish groups you should be listening to!

The first one, is a five-member girl group called 4minute. The debuted with a song back in late June called Hot Issue, which was a big success for the group. 4minute have now made a mini album which was released last week titled Muzik. Muzik is also the new single of the album, with it's Hot video and explosive sales, Muzik has made 4minute a group to watch. Check out the video below!

The second is a new product of the famous label, SMEntertainment home of artists like BoA, Super Junior and Girls Generation. Another five member girl group, they are called F(x). Only debuting last week they are generating big buzz with their single Lachata. Check out the very catchy video and song below!

Kara

Third is actually another girl group( they are all the rage at the moment) named Kara. They have been around for a little while and have quite a following already gaining a couple No. 1 hits. Their new single of their latest album is called Mister and it is causing a viral storm at the moment because of the sexy chorography that goes with the song. Known as the 'Butt dance', its got Korea going mad for the new dance move. Check out the girls performing Mister live below!

If you want a bit of a laugh check out this Fanboy of Kara doing the mister dance. He's really good!

Mini Viva
Mini Viva

I can’t get this song out of my head! Mini Viva is a new British pop duo who is managed by Simon Fuller (Spice Girls, David Beckham, So You Think You Can Dance and Idol Creator). Besides the bands bad name, they have a sound and image which is mainstream yet still unique. Their first single is called Left My Heart In Tokyo, produced by Xenomania (Kylie, Cher, Pet Shop Boys) is sure to be a hit in the Uk already at the top of most radio playlists. Check out the video for Left My Heart In Tokyo below!!

A dose of K-Pop

August 13th 2009 07:59

Anyone who reads this site every so often would know that I have a addiction to K-Pop or Korean Pop Music. The one thing I mainly like about korean pop music is that even though it is cheesy, the music always has a high production value and a Dance or Disco edge. Even though myself and probably you, understand very little of Korean, the music is still really good. Korea knows how to do Pop well! Below are 3 of the biggest Korean artist's at the moment and a little blurb about them. Check them out!

Girls Generation
Girls Generation

The first one is Girls Generation. We featured them at the start of the year with their hit song Gee, which broke so many records and sold a lot of copies! They have recently released a new mini album titled Sowoneul Malhaebwa (Genie) which translates into Tell Me Your Wish (Genie), and it has already gone No.1 on every chart possible. Tell Me Your Wish (Genie) is also the title of the lead single. Have a look at the video for it below and check out you will have it stuck in your head in no time.

Bada
Bada

The second artist is Bada. Bada is a solo female singer who used to be apart of a very successful girl group in the late ninties called S.E.S. From my view she is a bit like the Korean Beyonce, though there are obviously many differences. Bada has just released a new single from new album which is released this week. The single is called Mad and has a bit of a disco vibe. It's my new favourite song so check out the video below.

Brown Eyed Girls
Brown Eyed Girls

The third one is another girl group called Brown Eyed Girls. They have caused a lot of controversy lately in Korea because of their new video for their single Abracadabra. BEG have changed their image a fair bit from a cutesy look to a more mature and sexy style and it has got some of the traditionalist talking. Their new album is selling a lot of copies and their single Abracadabra is Hottt!!!! Check out the raunchy video below!

Phoenix at the Palace

August 6th 2009 04:55
Phoenix
Phoenix

I was totally blown away by the Phoenix show at the Palace on Monday. Despite the many chicken legs on stage, there was something incredibly powerful about this show. I have been a Phoenix fan for years but only just saw them live for the first time. Thinking the key tracks would come last, I took my time to get to the gig only to make a mad dash when I walked in the door hearing Lisztermania exploding from the stage.

I took my usual vantage point on the third floor but afterwards regretted not getting into the overexcited crowd below. From my birds eye view I could see how pumped everyone was. The most electric gig I have been to since…probably last time the YYY’s were here. The band were amazing. Focused, having fun and getting involved with the crowd. They said a few times what an amazing crowd it was – to be expected really but unlike most circumstances, I genuinely felt they meant it. Word from an internal unnamed source after the gig said it was their most rewarding show this tour.

In being critical, the lights were a bit much. The strobing was too prolonged. Anyone on pills at those moments would definitely have been freaking out. But there was one very striking moment when three lights intercepted Thomas Mars (vocals) so it looked like he was at the center of a six pointed star. Pretty cool.

Too Young was splendid but the real treat was 1901 with a relapsing extension at the end. Yay. We love you Phoenix.

I Like her even more!

Lisa Mitchell
Lisa Mitchell

A few weeks ago we showed you the first single from Aussie Up and comer, Lisa Mitchell. The track, Coin Laundry, is already being spun on radio like there’s no tomorrow and now we have a beautiful Music Video to! I have always liked Lisa Mitchell since she first appeared on Aus Idol a few years ago. To see her leave that side of the music industry, crate her own style and succeed is really cool. She seems to be just getting better and better. Check out the cute vid for Coin Laundry and grab a copy of her new album Wonder now!

Ready For The Weekend

July 23rd 2009 03:10
Calvin Harris
Calvin Harris

There are lots of 'Lovers' and 'Haters' out there, especially when it comes to Dance/Pop music. Scottish DJ and producer, Calvin Harris, is certainly one of those artists who cops a lot of 'crap' at the same time as selling millions of records. Whether you love or hate Harris's music, is has to be said that he can sure make a damn catchy, and in my opinion an above average dance track. It’s a rarity these days, with the everyone having more and more access to the technologies, there is a lot of crap dance tracks out there. Mr. Harris is set to release his second studio album early next month, titled Ready for The Weekend. Ready For The Weekend is also the title of his second single of the upcoming album after I'm Not Alone which spent many weeks at No.1 on the UK charts and this track is expected to do the same when released next week. Check out the MV for Ready For the Weekend below and let us know what you think? Love or Hate?
